Earlier this evening, my husband caught Micah watching C-Span from his sisters bedroom. This is not the first time that he has been engaged in watching news stations and enjoying them. At first, I thought it was slightly odd compared to little boys his age, who enjoy episode upon episode of Thomas the Tank Engine.
What I have also noticed, is that when Micah watches cartoons, he tends to cover his ears and becomes very upset during the show. Maybe it's something to do with his hypersensitive hearing, and the sounds from the show one of his sisters are watching are actually hurting his ears. His dad pointed that theory to me while Micah was catching his daily news dose. He also said that he seemed to prefer the monotone voice of the news station over the cartoons. This actually explains a lot about his preferences. Anyhow it's bed for me and stay tuned on for more with Micah.
This is about my family's day to day struggles with saving my children from ADHD and Autism. I am going to talk about the methods I am using and how these are helping my kids!

Time to Take Another Path
It's been close to a year now since Micah was diagnosed with Classic Autism, and Ralph and I realized that it is time to take a different path. The therapies were not working, then we lost our insurance, and we are seeing him regress again before our eyes. I have finally decided that it's time for a change and am beginning to look into a mix of treatments, that include DIR- Floortime, a Sensory Diet, and biomedical treatments with supplements to help curb his behaviors. These are what has led him to break two windows in a three week period and become extremely aggressive with everyone. We are going to start slow and see how well he progresses. Right now, I am in the process of exploring the supplements that I want to give to him and researching Floortime. I will keep everyone updated to see how this goes.
